Before you apply

Texas Dept of Licensing and Regulation requires the following be complete before this license can be issued.

  • 1,000 hours from a TDLR-licensed cosmetology school
  • Pass the PSI written and practical exams
  • Pass the required state exam (administered by PSI on behalf of TDLR).
  • Submit fingerprints for a criminal-history review through IdentoGO (service code provided after submission).
